More Cheap and Cheerful Student Nosh!

Friday night is Nosh Night!!!!  Three more cheap and cheerful recipes particularly aimed at Students but suitable for anyone who wants good food at good prices!

Chicken and Potato Pie

225 g chicken cubed

½ onion diced

2 slices of bacon

2 mushrooms sliced

125 ml milk

1 chicken oxo cube

1 tsp mixed herbs

½ pack of ready made shortcrust pastry

2 small containers (eg. The tins that take away come in are good!)

Stir fry the onion in 1 tbs of olive oil.  Add in the Chicken and bacon and cook.  Towards the end of cooking the meat add in the mushrooms.  Stir together and add milk, oxo cube and mixed herbs.

Divide the mixture between your two containers.

Roll out the pasty and divide between the two containers on top of the mixture.  Press the edges of the pastry to the edge of the tins/containers.  Brush with milk (or egg).

Bake in oven for 25 minutes at 180˚ C

Homemade Chips

Using baking size potatoes, cut into chips.

Toss in a baking tray in a sprinkling of olive oil

Sprinkle with rosemary.

Bake in oven for 25 minutes at 180˚ C

Sausages with Roast Veg

Chop up a selection of veg.  We suggest butternut squash, peppers, mushrooms and sweet potatoes but you can use anything you’ve got or that you can get your hands.

Throw into an ovenproof dish and add sausages

Spinkle with olive oil and thyme.

Bake in oven for 25 minutes at 180˚ C until the sausages are cooked.

Serve with chunky bread
